I made this crisp yesterday night from my farmshare plums.  It was delicious.

Modifications: whole wheat flour, used store-bought Reed’s ginger ice cream, I had less fruit on hand (2lbs instead of 2.5 lbs) – which actually worked out well because other reviewers said there wasn’t enough crumble for the fruit.

I want to make a lot of meals at home now that I have my new job which is more fun, lets out earlier and pays a lot less.  Then I can take leftovers for lunches instead of paying Soho lunch prices!  I’m going to start the new regimen this week.
  • pizza with either home-made red sauce, pesto or garlic butter and grilled veggies and fresh mozzarella
  • swiss chard & onion tart
  • chicken & zucchini curry with couscous or quinoa
  • soba noodles with marinated tofu
  • veggie burgers
  • plum tart or cobbler with ginger ice cream
  • I also want to learn how to make my own pickled beets, because pickled is pretty much the only way I like to eat them.

2am. Eggplant Parmesan.

that about sums it up.  


David and I started cooking this eggplant parmesan at about 11:00 last night.  We used the eggplants and basil from our farmshare.  Could have used the heirloom tomatoes but used canned sauce instead.  I fell asleep once it was in the oven.  I don’t remember much after that.  I do remember groggily lurching to the table and eating two pieces of 5-billion-calorie deliciousness, but that’s about it…

Fruit Share: An Embarrassment of Peaches:

Vegetable Share: August Bounty!!!
  • HUGE basil plant plucked straight from the earth
  • heirloom tomatoes
  • Tuscan kale (a bit flimsy looking)
  • onions
  • beautiful fat European eggplants!
  • rainbow carrots
  • and even a cantaloupe!
I am feeling really ! about everything, obviously.  I have been looking forward to getting eggplants for quite some time.  I want to make an eggplant parmesan tonight, but we have to get some more cheese I think.  We still have a lot of salad stuff left over from two weeks ago?! so we need to make something that involves a lot of japanese turnips, cucumbers and cooked beets asap.
